How much freedom do you enjoy to worship God unhindered by issues that would otherwise cloud your relationship with Him? How much freedom from worry? From anxiety or fear? How much freedom to be the person God has called you to be?

Mary Pytches addresses issues that cause a lack of spiritual freedom in our lives, including:

  1. regret over the past
  2. unforgiveness and flawed thinking

She shows the steps you can take to enter into freedom.

The 7 Laws are:

  1. First things first
  2. Count your blessings
  3. Keep on keeping on
  4. Remember to forget
  5. Give yourself to others
  6. Stay close to God
  7. Cultivate your soul

We have just had some new books in from T.D. Jakes. These are all smaller books and would make an ideal introduction into his writings. The books are:

Help Me, I've Fallen and I can't get up (£5.50). Learning why pride and selfishness lead to destruction. How to be content. Avoiding temptation.

Why? because you are anointed! (£5.50). He shows that anointing from God is not an easy path to tread because you have stepped on to the battlefield, but you have a Saviour who answer's the cry in the night when things get tough.

The Harvest (£5.99). He focuses on the causes of society's moral decay.

Anointing fall on me (£5.50). Power for living in these troubled times.

Chaplain John Barry Cole was in the shop on Saturday 19th April signing copies his book From Jags to Riches.

We still have some signed copies of the book on sale at £5 each.

John lived in Uxbridge as a boy and went to St Andrews school. He has written his testimony as someone who had lived a self centred and secular life and then found Jesus who transformed his life.

He is now a hospital chaplain who ministers to the terminally ill. He was born and raised in England, and came to the United States at the age of 19. After serving in the United Staes army during Vietnam, he used the GI bill and earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology.

I asked John to write about why he wrote the book. He says "I was inspired to write my book when I turned 65 and began reflecting over my life. (Explained in first chapter). I wanted to share my spiritual journey from the time in 1967 when I first turned to the Lord for his help and show how He has intervened in my life many times preparing me for my ministry as a hospice chaplain, and how He will do the same for others if they will surrender their lives to Him. I wrote the book not only for believers but for anyone who is seaching"

Jeff Lucas has been busy. This is the second book from him in as many weeks. He has already written about prodigals in his book Will Your Prodigal Come Home? and now looks more closely at how we can be more welcoming in the church. Every church can adopt an open heart that will turn open its doors for everyone - especially the prodigals in our lives. By focusing on developing a heart for prodigals, Pastor Jeff Lucas offers hopeful counsel for drawing our prodigals back and loving them into staying.
